Marriage License Application Process

All Marriage License Applications must be submitted electronically through our online Portal. 

All appointments are done virtually. 

  1. Your application can be submitted anytime prior to your marriage, it will remain in our system indefinitely

    How to submit your application in the Marriage License Portal:

      • Login as Guest-you do not need to create a Username and Password

        • Accept Disclaimer

          • E-file Marriage License Application

            • Continue

              • Enter all information for both Applicants

              • Please record your transaction number before you submit your application

              • Once all information is completed for both applicant-use the Submit to County button to send us your application


  2. Schedule your wedding date with an officiant-which can be a Judge, Minister, Priest, etc. 
    You must have a confirmed wedding date and officiant before we can schedule your virtual appointment. Please see the following list if you are in need of an officiant to perform your wedding.

  3. Once you are within 45 days of your wedding date, have a confirmed officiant and have submitted your online application, please schedule your virtual appointment through the Virtual Booking link.    

    • Count backwards 45 days from your wedding date to be in the correct time frame to schedule your appointment.

  4. Appointments are scheduled Monday- Friday from 9:00am until 3:30pm

For your virtual appointment we will need the following:

        • Valid Photo ID for both parties

        • If previously married, you will need to provide a printed Divorce Decree or Death Certificate in English

        • Social Security Numbers-the card is not necessary 

        • If Non-U.S Citizen-a notarized Marriage Affidavit is required.

        • Payment of $65 via Visa or Mastercard-due at the time of your virtual appointment

        • We prefer both parties to be together in the same location

Once you have completed the virtual appointment and your payment has been processed, your license is issued

      • The license has a 3-day waiting period-meaning it is not valid and cannot be used until 3 days after it is issued

      • It is only valid for 60 days-if you fail to get married within the 60-day time period-your license will expire and you will have to repeat the process and another $65 will be required, there are no extensions

      • It can be used anywhere in Pennsylvania

Marriage License Portal

The Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans' has created an online service that allows for submitting an online Marriage Application. Click on the Register of Wills/Orphan's Court Online Services link below and follow the prompts from the site.
