Purpose
Office Overview: The District Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer in the county. The District Attorney is elected by the public every 4 years and is considered a row officer.
Goals & Objectives
The Berks County District Attorney's Office is comprised of 31 attorneys, 33 detectives, 2 analysts, and 24 support personnel. This office works closely with over 40 local police departments, state and federal law enforcement to ensure the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are upheld and that our citizens are protected. Our goal is to keep Berks County safe and secure by effectively working with the entire law enforcement community.

Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act
In 2008, the Pennsylvania Legislature passed the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act. The law requires that all contractors who perform at least $5,000 worth of home improvements per year, register with the Attorney General's Office.
